Well, I like to think that I am not an old dog, after all I am barely of legal drinking age (well that is at least what I tell myself to make myself feel young again), but I guess I need to face up to the fact that I have been in this industry for over 11 years, so I guess that kind of makes me an old dog. So with that being said, this old dog learned a new trick yesterday that I am quite proud of.

It has been quite some time since I was a developer (yeah I know it is hard to believe, but I was at one time I swear) and a suggestion came in the other day from one of our Mixx users as to whether or not we had plans to add Mixx to FeedBurner’s FeedFlare option. Since we had not done it to date, and it seemed like a fantastic idea, I did a little research, found that it was not that difficult and went about my business creating the XML file that was needed in order to add a “Add to Mixx” to your Feed (I cannot take full credit for the development of it, I did have some help, but I did the overwhelming majority of the coding, which by the way was all of about 10 lines, but who is counting). If you are interested in adding it to your feed, here is the url you can paste into the Personal Flare section (until FeedBurner updates their option list, then we will be an option and you will not have to paste this code): http://www.mixx.com/feedflare.xml .

The moral of this whole story (thanks for sticking with it) is that it is important to try and learn one new thing a day. You never know when later in life that you will need to recall that piece of information, whether it be in a game of Trivial Pursuit, the Final Jeopardy question where you stand to win $50,000 or you need to make a critical business decision and that bit of information that you learned awhile back will help you in making the right decision.

You are never to old to learn something new, and no one knows everything (although I know quite a few people who think they do, you know who you are), so when given the opportunity to learn something new, embrace it because you never know when you are going to need it again (for me on this one, I am certain it will be years, but hopefully I can pull it out of the recesses of my brain when needed).
