About a month ago I posted about the Open Coffee Clubs that are popping up all across the country and the world. At the time, it seemed like the closest one to the DC area was up in New York(correct me if I am wrong here, please), so it looked like they were heading our way. Well low and behold, I read a posting on Nick O’Neill’s blog (The Webpreneur) that a new chapter has been started in DC. Unfortunately for me, the first gathering was this morning at the Caribou Coffee on 17th St. NW, and I just found out about it today.

This is great news for the DC area. First is this, and coming up next week is the first Tech Cocktail for DC, hosted by Frank Gruber, Eric Olson and Nick O’Neill. Things are starting to shape up for the DC startup scene, at least from a social gathering perspective. I hope that both of these events are the first of many more to come. All we need to do now is get an Open Coffee Club a little further out in the burbs, say Reston?

Any takers?
